Privacy

Useful analytics, minimal personal data.

Ingrediensia does not require an account or profile. Name and email are optional on the feedback form, and the app does not request precise GPS location.

Stored only in your browser

Your last 10 scans, selected health priorities, and any country, region, or city you enter are stored in local browser storage. You can remove them by clearing this site's browser data. Ingrediensia does not synchronize these preferences between devices.

Camera and label reading

Camera frames used to identify a package or read ingredient and Nutrition Facts panels are sent securely to Ingrediensia's server and processed by Microsoft Azure Vision. Ingrediensia does not retain the image as a photograph. Extracted label text is shown for review and used to generate the result, but the text is not included in the scan analytics event.

Do not place people, addresses, receipts, prescriptions, or other personal information inside the camera guide. Frames that do not look like supported product or food-label content are ignored.

Scan analytics

After a valid food lookup or reviewed label analysis, Ingrediensia may record the barcode, result type, score and scoring version, dietary label, ingredient-category counts, time, and optional coarse location. Bootstrap catalog imports are kept separate from real scans.

The server uses a shortened keyed hash derived from the requesting network address for rate limiting and duplicate prevention; it does not store the raw address in scan analytics. Public trends are aggregate-only and location views require minimum group sizes.

External services and retention

Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central supply product information. Microsoft Azure hosts the application, database, monitoring, and OCR. Requests to those providers are made by Ingrediensia's server rather than exposing private API credentials in your browser. Their own service and privacy terms also apply to their processing.

Operational security records and aggregate scan events are retained only as needed to operate, protect, and understand the service. A formal retention schedule and user-request process should be adopted before a broad commercial launch.

Feedback, testimonials, and feature requests

Feedback submissions are stored with the category and message you provide. A name and email address are optional and are used only to understand or follow up on your submission. Do not include medical records, diagnoses, or other sensitive health information.

Testimonials remain private unless you explicitly allow Ingrediensia to quote them publicly. Permission does not guarantee publication, and identifying details will not be added to a quote without separate agreement.
